Milk kettle

This pouring jug has a perforated lid to prevent milk from spilling over when it boils. The small loop handle makes the lid easy to adjust. Such kettles were used to boil raw milk to kill germs, long before the invention of processing milk at an ultra-high temperature (UHT).
